Alex from Infinity Fiction discussing human creativity and responsible AI

We are at a pivotal moment. Generative AI is reshaping the creative landscape at an unprecedented pace, offering both immense potential and significant risks.

The choices we make as a society will define not just the future of storytelling and gaming, but also the role of human expression in the next digital age. Until now, the AI narrative has been led by technology firms. It is time for the creative industry to take a leading role in defining its future.

At Infinity Fiction, we firmly believe that AI is no substitute for human creativity. It often produces content that is homogeneous and uninspired. Instead, we see AI as a tool to amplify human creativity, build groundbreaking gaming experiences and unlock new ways for creatives to publish, reach new audiences and monetise their work.

This is not just about our games. It is about protecting the heart of storytelling and human creativity, ensuring AI innovation enhances rather than replaces human talent.

We are excited to continue this conversation with the creative community and work towards a future that champions both art and innovation.

The double edged sword of generative AI

Generative AI is transforming industries and society at extraordinary speed. It also raises fundamental questions for human creativity across writing, art, voice, video and performance.

Many organisations face a catch 22. They see the potential of generative AI and want to avoid falling behind, while also needing to protect the authenticity of their brands, their customer data and the quality of the experience they provide. In 2023, Amazon limited self publishers to three Kindle ebooks per day after its marketplace was flooded with AI generated books.

Resistance from the creative industries has grown in response to this largely unregulated technology. The Writers Guild of America, representing 11,500 screenwriters, went on strike in 2023 with AI among its central concerns. The disruption cost the United States entertainment industry an estimated $5 billion.

Research by Nina Beguš at UC Berkeley found that people wrote richer and more distinctive narratives, while AI produced many versions of the same stories with clichés and flat, generic characters.

As future models are trained on increasing amounts of AI generated material, there is a risk of a cycle of homogenisation. Without intervention, creatives and technologists will remain in conflict, while society loses the originality and innovation that come from human expression.

At Infinity Fiction, we believe AI cannot replicate the human perspective behind genuine creativity. Our mission is to use responsible AI as a tool that empowers creators, helping them scale their work, reach new audiences and retain control over their intellectual property.

Bringing human stories to life with responsible AI

Our vision for the Infinity Fiction platform is to give creatives more control. Within our games, generative AI acts as an interface for players. It brings to life worlds written by human creators and operates within defined creative boundaries while still supporting unique experiences.

This approach has helped us develop Living World Games. These games go beyond a traditional open world by creating places that feel truly alive. Environments and inhabitants respond dynamically to player actions and events, creating experiences that are different for every player while remaining consistent with the authored world.

Imagine a player is ordered by a king to deliver a message to allies preparing for an invasion. One player ignores the order. When they return, the kingdom is in chaos. Villages have been razed, trade routes are cut off and the capital is filled with frightened citizens. Another player delivers the message and returns to find a kingdom that has survived.

These outcomes are not random. They are part of a ripple effect where earlier events shape later interactions. A player might meet displaced refugees in another region, find that merchants refuse to trade because of bandits or see rival factions exploit the disorder. Across a whole game world, the choices players make affect both the main story and the details of daily life.

Empowering writers, artists, voice actors and musicians

Writers and authors are only the beginning. Our vision is to create a game development ecosystem with human talent as its foundation and responsible AI as supporting technology.

Creatives should be able to monetise their talent and intellectual property through game creators who use our platform to distribute their work responsibly. Our engine keeps the rules and identity of a game world consistent, helping protect the integrity of each property.

Tidefall is our first demonstration of what this can make possible. Its world and stories are built by a team of human creators, then brought to life through systems that allow the world to remember, react and evolve.

Infinity Fiction builds Living World Games written by humans, powered by responsible AI and shaped by players.
